Cursive letters a to z
In cursive (joined) writing the letters flow into each other without lifting the pencil. Start with small letters, then capitals, then join them into words.
Trace with your finger
Pick a letter or word, then trace over the grey shape. Keep the pencil (or finger) moving — don't lift it inside a word.
Tips for neat cursive
- Sit straight and hold the pencil lightly, a little above the tip.
- Keep all small letters the same height — between the blue line and the red middle line.
- Tall letters (b, d, f, h, k, l, t) go up to the top line; tails (g, j, p, q, y) go below.
- Practise a little every day — 10 minutes is enough.
Letter shapes: the Playwrite IN school-handwriting font (SIL Open Font License). Your school may teach slightly different shapes — follow your teacher's model.
