How to do prime factorisation
- Divide by the smallest prime (2, 3, 5, 7, 11…) that goes exactly.
- Keep dividing the answer until you reach 1.
- Write the number as a product of primes, using powers: 360 = 2³ × 3² × 5.
Every number greater than 1 has exactly one prime factorisation (ignoring order). Use it to find HCF and LCM and square roots.
For Class 5 to 8 (NCERT Ganita Prakash 6, “Prime Time”). Practice answers are computed by a program.
A one-page chart to stick on the wall, and a worksheet to practise.
