What is symmetry?

A shape is symmetrical if you can fold it so that both halves match exactly. The fold line is the line of symmetry (mirror line). A butterfly 🦋, a leaf and the letter A are symmetrical.

Line down the middle: A H I M O T U V W X Y
Line across the middle: B C D E K (and H, I, O, X too)
No line of symmetry: F G J L N P Q R S Z

Try it: write a big letter on paper, fold it, and hold it up to the light.
