Refraction of light · प्रकाश का अपवर्तन
n = c/v, 1/v − 1/u = 1/f, P = 1/f — practise with steps.

Refraction · अपवर्तन
- Light bends when it passes from one medium to another. Rarer → denser: towards the normal.
- Snell's law: sin i / sin r = constant = refractive index. n = c / v (c = 3 × 10⁸ m/s). Water 1.33, glass 1.5, diamond 2.42.
| Lens formula | 1/v − 1/u = 1/f (sign convention: distances from the optical centre; left of the lens negative) |
|---|---|
| Magnification | m = v/u = h′/h |
| Power | P = 1/f (f in metres) = 100/f (f in cm); unit dioptre (D); convex +, concave − |
